Discussion on the confirmation and optimization of the hexavalent chromium determination in textiles by ethanol chromogenic agent method
The"Textiles―Determination of heavy metals―Part3:Chromium(VI)―Spectrophotometry"standard outlines the spec-trophotometric test for the extractable hexavalent chromium[Cr(VI)]content in textiles. The diphenylcarbamyl two-trap chromo-genic agent, prepared with a highly toxic acetone solvent,is classified as a precursor chemical, volatile, hard to procure, and strictly controlled. This study explores the use of ethanol as a chromogenic solvent instead of acetone to measure hexavalent chromium lev-els in textiles, aiming to mitigate the harm caused by toxic reagents to testers. The results indicate that the refined method maintains good linearity with the original standard method, and both recovery and precision meet the standards.
