Varroa destructor is one of the main factors threatening the health of honeybee colonies and has caused huge losses to the global beekeeping industry.Long-term use of synthetic acaricides will increase the resistance of the mites and the pollution risk of bee products.Oxalic acid,a natural compound from plants,has the advantages of high safety and efficiency,no residue and no reported mite resistance,and is thus widely used abroad in the mite control.In this paper,oxalic acid properties,application methods,control effect,and safety were discussed to deepen the understanding of oxalic acid in the mite control and to provide guidance for its application in the bee industry of China.
