Most of ethnic minority areas in China are located in the earthquake zone,with high incidence of earthquake disasters,but a large number of national languages and more complex language scenario poses the earthquake rescue against serious language communication barriers,which hinder the rescue.The Yushu earthquake in 2010 highlighted this problem,and the earthquake in Jishishan County,Gansu Province,at the end of 2023 raised this problem again.Based on the analysis of the basic situation of earthquakes and languages in minority areas,taking the representative Yushu earthquake and Jiuzhaigou earthquake as examples,and combining with the recent Jishishan earthquake experience in Linxia,Gansu Province,this paper points out the problems of language barriers in many aspects,and puts forward some concrete suggestions for reflection.
