In the background of global situation changes,the concept of a community with a shared future of mankind is becoming increasingly profound.Disaster prevention,reduction,relief,and preparedness are eternal issues for human survival and development.Food,as a necessary supply in emergency situations,may arise a series of problems after an unexpected event occurs,such as malnutrition caused by insufficient food supply,a series of intestinal diseases caused by contaminated food.The World Conference on Disaster Reduction(WCDR)has proposed that"safe,high-quality food is essential in disaster preparedness programs".Emergency food is a kind of processed food(including drinking water)used to maintain survival of human body and meet the energy,nutritional,and functional needs in special environment in emergencies.Emergency food reserve has great significance and plays a vital role in safeguarding people's lives and health and enhancing national emergency response capabilities.This paper provides references for the research and practices of emergency food by comparing the development,special requirements,and emergency food reserve at home and abroad.
