Based on music archaeological findings from the prehistoric period in the Yellow River basin,the Chinese music civilization is traced to the Central Plains in the early Neolithic Age,around 8000 BP.It further evolved and solidified in the late Neolithic Age,approximately 5000 BP,becoming prevalent in various locations within the Yellow River basin.In prehistoric China,the music civilization is viewed as a collaborative creation involving multiple regions and nationalities.Prehistoric music,imbued with ritual significance,reflects social differentiation evident in tomb funeral objects.Musical material products were likely owned by leaders of central settlements,signifying their special status,with musical instruments becoming symbols of authority.The amalgamation of music and ritual serves as a crucial identifier of prehistoric music civilization.The connotation of ritual music stands as the judgment criterion for the origin and formation of prehistoric music civilization.Music civilization,integral to the origin and formation of Chinese civilization,has become a significant and primary spiritual symbol.
