To study Shengguan music(a type of traditional Chinese wind and percussion music),it is essential to study Daqu(large-scale musical compositions). To study Daqu, one must focus on musical scores;and to focus on musical scores, one must find the standard specimen. This specimen is located in Xiong County,Hebei Province. The Xiong County scores meet three key criteria:they are well-preserved,clearly dated, and include transcribed catalogs. These three criteria are indispensable. The study of Daqu and the precise positioning of modes often encounter significant challenges due to the lack of a definitive reference point.Traditional music that possesses a vast collection of Gongche scores often records only single-line scores, making it difficult to explain the reasons behind the emergence of melodic branches.Modern typesetting technology has resolved the difficulties of comparing staff notation, numbered musical notation, and Gongche notation, allowing contemporary researchers to fully utilize this heritage.By combining Chinese and Western methods, overlaying ancient and modern elements, and using visual comparisons of scores, this approach is simple and effective.
