Research on Xiqu Elements in Zhao Jiping's Three Orchestral Compositions
Qinqiang and Jinju are representative local Xiqu genres in China,continuing the cultural legacy of the Shanxi and Shaanxi regions and preserving the valuable heritage of traditional Chinese music culture.Growing up on the Loess Plateau,the renowned composer Zhao Jiping was immersed in the traditional musical culture of these regions from a young age.He has consistently dedicated himself to integrating traditional Chinese Xiqu,folk music,and other cultural elements with contemporary musical vocabulary,thus forming a highly distinctive personal musical language.This article focuses on the analysis of three representative orchestral compositions by Zhao Jiping:The Symphony No.1,Qiao's Grand Courtyard(Symphonic Suite)and Follow The Pagoda Tree To Get The Root Of Our Ancestors.It elaborates on the influence of Qinqiang and Jinju musical elements on the melody composition and rhythmic elements of these three compositions,searching for the characteristics of Zhao Jiping's personalized musical language and its inspiration for contemporary music composition.
