Desiccation Sensitivity of Panax notoginseng Seeds and Membrane Lipid Peroxidation
The normal biochemical and physiological methods were applied to measure the dynamic changes of seed vigor, germination rates, relative electrolyte leakage, malonaldehyde (MDA) contents, antioxidant enzymes activities of P.notoginseng seeds after dehydration treatments and explore its desiccation sensitivity and influence mechanism. The results showed that the critical water content of P.notoginseng seeds was 20%.With the increase of dehydration extent, the vigor and germination rates of P.notoginseng seeds were decreased, relative electrolyte leakage and MDA contents were increased, and the antioxidant enzyme activities were increased in the early stage, then decreased later.Membrane lipid peroxidation and the enzymatic decrease of antioxidant system were the main reasons for desiccation sensitivity of P.notoginseng seeds.
