Effects of Drying Methods and Gibberellic Acid on Content of Fatty Acids and Germination of Holboellia latifolia Wall Seeds
Objective:To investigate the effect of different drying methods and gibberellic acid (GA3) on fatty acids and germination of Holboellia latifolia Wall seeds. Methods:Using seeds of Holboellia latifolia which was oven-drying and natural drying as the experimental material, the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was applied to analyze and identify the fatty acids, while the effects of GA3 on the germination rates and germination potential of seeds were investigated. Results:These oven-drying and natural drying seeds contained mainly hexadecanoic acid (23.95 %、24.99 %),9-octadecenoic acid (46.41%、45.81%),linoleic acid (27.84% 、27.38%) and octadecanoic acid(1.80% 、1.82%).With treatment of GA3 on oven-drying and natural drying seeds, the germination rate was 52% and 59% while the control group was 62% and 65%,and the germination potential was 48% and 52% while contrast group was 52 % and 56 %,respectively. Conclusions:Different drying methods and GA3 treatment did not affect the content of fatty acids and germination rate of Holboellia latifolia Wall seeds, while GA3 should not be used as germination promoters of these seeds.
