This study was conducted on 14 varieties of flowering Chinese cabbage(Brassica campestris L.ssp.chinensis var.utilis Tsen et Lee)grown in a greenhouse. The basic electrophysiological param-eters of flowering Chinese cabbage were measured under both saturated and unsaturated conditions. The relative leaf intracellular water holding capacity(LIWHC),leaf intracellular water transfer rate(LIWTR),leaf intracellular water holding time(LIWHT),active nutrient transport ability(NAT),passive nutrient transport ability(NPT),low nutrient tolerance(RLN),nutrient utilization efficien-cy(NUE),and plant relative metabolic vitality(MA)of the leaves were then calculated based on the Nernst equation to explore the relationship between electrophysiological parameters and heterosis. The results showed that the hybrid 50 variety had a significantly lower intracellular water transport efficiency compared to other rapeseed varieties. However, its low nutrient tolerance(RLN)and nutri-ent utilization efficiency(NUE)were significantly higher than other varieties. The relative metabolic activity(MA)of plants was also significantly higher than that of other varieties. The comprehensive evaluation of water and nutrient metabolism of the tested varieties using the membership function method showed that among the four varieties tested, the comprehensive evaluation of flowering Chi-nese cabbage hybrid 50 was superior to the other three varieties. Therefore, this study demonstrated that it was possible to determine the heterosis of plants by measuring their electrophysiological infor-mation to calculate their water and nutrient metabolism status,as well as their relative metabolic ac-tivity.
