Comprehensive Evaluation of Zhongtang No.2 in the 13th National Sugarcane Variety Regional Trial
In order to study the adaptability of the new sugarcane variety Zhongtang No.2 in various sugarcane regions across the country,Zhongtang No.2 participated in the 13th round of national sug-arcane new variety joint regional trial in 18 districts of 4 provinces and regions from 2018 to 2020,with a one-year new planting and two-year recurrent root regional trial.The experimental results showed that based on the data from 18 pilot areas across the country,the average sugarcane yield of new planting and two years of perennial roots in one year was 6 734 kg/667 m2,which increased by 11.16%compared to the control ROC22,and increased by 14 times compared to the control ROC22.The average sugar content was 957 kg/667 m2,which was 7.29%higher than the control ROC22.Compared with the control ROC22,it increased yield 12 times.The average sugarcane sucrose content from November to December was 13.67%,the average sugarcane sucrose content from January to March was 15.30%,and the average sugarcane sucrose content throughout the period was 14.52%,which was 0.20 percentage points lower than ROC22.In the first year,the newly planted sugarcane yield was 6 598 kg/667 m2,with an average sugar content of 900 kg/667 m2 and an average sucrose content of 13.57%throughout the entire period.In the first year,the average cane yield of perennial roots was 6 693 kg/667 m2,an increase of 15.66%compared to ROC22,with an average sugar content of 1 017 kg/667 m2,an increase of 13.25%compared to ROC22,and an average cane sucrose content of 15.28%throughout the entire period;In the second year,the average cane yield of perennial roots was 6 963 kg/667 m2,an increase of 26.53%compared to ROC22,with an average sugar content of 952 kg/667 m2,an increase of 17.10%compared to the control ROC22,and an average cane sucrose content of 14.75%throughout the entire period.The average sugarcane fiber content was 11.80%,which was 0.70 percentage points higher than the control ROC22.The resistance level to smut disease identified through artificial inoculation was level 1,and the resistance response type is high resistance.The resistance level to mosaic disease was level 2,and the resistance response type was high resist-ance.This variety had high resistance to smut and was suitable for mechanical harvesting.
