Jiaoyang No.5 is a hybrid of dry and fresh line pepper(Capsicum annuum)with male sterile line ZHS4 as the mother and inbred line ZHA6 as the father.Jiaoyang No.5 is a precocious variety,of which the whole growth period is 185 days,which had compact plant type,strong growth potential with plant height of 83.70 cm,plant width of 76.16 cm,medium green leaves,white petals,green fruit and old ripe fruit red.Its fruit solitary was downward,with fruit surface smooth and linear fruit.The fruit number of single plant was 73.6,the fresh weight of single fruit was 16.75 g,the fruit length was 20.59 cm,the fruit width was 1.93 cm,and the pulp thickness was 0.21 cm.Its fruit had spicy medium with good commercial.Vitamin C content was 185 mg/100 g,and capsaicin content was 449 mg/kg.The variety had high resistance to anthrax,medium resistance to bacterial wilt,resistance to cucumber Mosaic virus disease,tobacco Mosaic virus disease and blight.The average yield of fresh pepper was 1 723.7 kg/667 m2,which showed stable high yield.The pepper variety was suitable for summer planting in Guizhou,He'nan,Xinjiang,Liaoning,Inner Mongolia,Hebei,Chongqing,Hubei,Gansu and other places.
