Research on the Dormancy and Germination Characteristics of the Rare and Endangered Plant Wooyoungia septentrionalis Seeds
In order to explore the reasons of dormancy and germination characteristics of Wooyoungia septentrionalis seeds and find ways to relieve dormancy, using mature Wooyoungia septentrionalis seeds as materials, the effects of seed morphology, water permeability, endogenous inhibitors and different treatments on germination of Wooyoungia septentrionalis seeds were studied, and the chan-ges of physiological and biochemical indexes during germination were measured. The results showed that the seed coat did not cause permeability barrier and did not have physical dormancy. The arillum, seed coat and endosperm all contained germination inhibitors, and the embryo was very small and not fully differentiated, and there was morphophysiological dormancy. After soaking 250 mg/L of gibberellin(GA3)for 48 hours, the germination rate of Wooyoungia septentrionalis seeds could reach 57.58%.The best method to break the dormancy of Wooyoungia septentrionalis seeds was to layer at 25 ℃/15 ℃ for 90 days, and the germination rate could reach 60.2%.The content of soluble sugar and soluble protein decreased significantly during germination. The endogenous hormones GA3,brassinosterol(BR),zeanoside(ZR),indole acetic acid(IAA)and jasmonic acid(JA)synergically promoted seed germination and emergence, while ABA inhibited seed germination.
