The translated picture books into Chinese play a vital role in cultivating children's reading interest and enlightenment education of young children in China.After analyzing total 361 picture books awarded by the Caldecott Medal in the history,we found that 273 of them have been translated into Chinese and published,ac-counting for 76％of the total.According to the data,the history of Chinese translation of Caldecott picture books can be divided into four stages:germination period(1984-2006),development period(2007-2017),boom pe-riod(2018-2019)and decline period(2020-2021).The Chinese translation of Caldecott picture books presents the tendency of the diverse themes,fierce competition in translation and publication,multiple identities of transla-tors and the rising timeliness and systematicness.
