Zhao Dahe's novel Our Road is based on historical events,depicting the suffering of the people in Central China during the warlord conflicts.The narrative of the novel is crafted with unique ingenuity.On one hand,it uses the storytelling mode of legendary tales to recount the people's hardships,imbuing its legendary nar-rative with anti-legendary connotations.On the other hand,through narrative prolongation,it constructs a hetero-topian world that vividly represents the absurdity and chaos of that era.Additionally,the interweaving of two narra-tive threads constructs a multidimensional picture of the times,presenting the darkness of the warlord era from all angles.
