The shape of Chinese characters has always evolved under the influence of human Gestalt psychology along two dimensions:First,balance the relationship between the parts and the whole of Chinese characters;Sec-ond,coordinate and unify the configuration of individual Chinese characters with the configuration system of Chi-nese characters.Driven by the Gestalt pressure,the development of Chinese characters has undergone simplifica-tion and complication,two seemingly contradictory paths that are,in fact,manifestations of the Chinese character system moving towards a simpler and more appropriate direction under the influence of human Gestalt psychology.To further discuss the role of human Gestalt pressure in the increase or decrease of strokes in Chinese characters,this paper also focuses on the changes in the number of strokes of"凵"in the configuration of Chinese characters.
