Effect of Shenba Kangliu Liquid on intestinal function, inflammatory index and recurrence after colorectal adenomatous polyp surgery
Objective To analyze the effect of Shenba Kangliu Liquid on postoperative intestinal function, inflammatory indexes, and recurrence of colorectal adenomatous polyps. Methods A total of 400 patients with colorectal adenomatous polyps admitted to Zhangjiagang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to September 2022 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group(n=200)and a control group(n=200).Both groups underwent polypectomy under colonoscopy, while the observation group received Shenba Kangliu Liquid treatment for 2 weeks. The recovery time of intestinal function, the restoration of intestinal wall, serum inflammatory indexes and recurrence rate between the two groups were compared. Results There were no statistically significant differences in the recovery time of bowel sounds, time to initiate eating, and time to first defecation between the two groups(P>0.05).The thickness of the intestinal wall, the length of the defect, neutrophil count(NEU),neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR)and systemic immune inflammatory index(SⅡ)decreased in both groups on the 14th day after the operation compared to the 1st day after the operation, while lymphocyte count(LYM)increased.Furthermore,on the 14th day after the operation, the thickness of the intestinal wall, the length of the defect,NEU,NLR,and SⅡ in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),while LYM was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The 6-month and 1-year recurrence rates and the total recurrence rate of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Shenba Kangliu Liquid can promote the recovery of the intestinal wall and the improvement of inflammatory indexes in patients with colorectal adenomatous polyps without affecting the recovery of intestinal function after the operation. It also has a positive effect on reducing the recurrence rate at 6 months and 1 year after the operation.
