Effect of herbal cake separated navel moxibustion on traditional Chinese medicine symptom score,electrogastrogram parameters,and gastric emptying rate in patients with functional dyspepsia
Objective To explore the effects of herbal cake separated navel moxibustion on traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,electrogastrogram parameters,and gastric emptying rate in patients with functional dyspepsia(FD)(spleen stomach deficiency cold syndrome).Methods A total of 100 patients with FD(spleen stomach deficiency cold syndrome)who were treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2021 to May 2023 were selected and randomly divided into an observation group(n=50)and a control group(n=50)using a random number table method.The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,while the observation group was treated with herbal cake separated navel moxibustion.The traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores,electrogastrogram parameters,gastric emptying rate,and gastrointestinal hormone levels of the two groups were compared.Results After 4 weeks of treatment,the score of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms such as epigastric pain in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05),and the percentage of gastric electrical disturbance rhythm before and after meals in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The frequency of gastric electricity and the percentage of normal slow waves were lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The gastric emptying rate,serum motilin,and 5-hydroxytryptamine levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The serum level of somatostatin was lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The effect of herbal cake separated navel moxibustion on treating FD patients(spleen stomach deficiency cold syndrome)is good,which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of patients,regulate the electrogastrogram parameters,also increase the emptying rate and improve gastrointestinal hormone levels.
