Objective To investigate the practices and challenges associated with organized scientific research within key bases of science and technology innovation,thereby informing and enhancing base management strategies.Methods This study investigated several national,provincial,and ministerial-level science and technology innovation bases in the medical field,as well as their respective management departments,at six comprehensive universities in China.The initiatives and experiences of the bases in carrying out organized scientific research were analyzed and summarized.Results Conducting organized scientific research within these bases was a complex undertaking that requires strengthening internal system construction,enhancing awareness of organized scientific research,fostering interdisciplinary collaboration,and facilitating the transformation of a-chievements.Additionally,it was crucial for the dependent units to provide concerted support in areas such as funding alloca-tion,spatial resources,talent acquisition,graduate student allocations,and the facilitation of achievement translation.Conclu-sions Continuous improvement of management mechanisms and support systems is essential for both the bases themselves as well as their dependent units to effectively carry out organized scientific research.These efforts will contribute to the scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement in the field of medicine.
