Peripheral Blood Nlr Level in Patients with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Its Correlation with Thyroid Hormones and Autoantibodies
Objective To explore the peripheral blood neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) and the correlation with thyroid hormones and autoantibodies. Methods The 210 HT patients admitted to Chengdu Xindu District TCM Hospital from January 2020 to June 2023 were selected as the HT group. Among the patients,82 cases with normal thyroid function were included in group A,71 cases with subclinical hypothyroidism were enrolled as group B and 57 cases with clinical hypothyroidism were set as group C. And 102 patients in our hospital in the same period were selected as the control group. General data comparing the HT and control groups[gender, age, body mass index (BMI)],blood routine indicators[hemoglobin (Hb),total cholesterol (TC),fasting plasma glucose (FPG),triglyceride (TG),alanine aminotransferase (ALT),uric acid (UA),creatinine (Cr),neutrophil count (NEUT),lymphocyte count (LYM),NLR],thyroid hormones[thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH),free triiodothyronine (FT3),free thyroxine (FT4)]and thyroid autoantibodies[anti-thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb),thyroid peroxidase (TPOAb)]levels. The levels of NEUT,LYM,NLR,TSH,FT3,FT4,TgAb,and TPOAb were compared between the subgroups. Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between NLR and TSH,FT3,FT3,TgAb and TPOAb in HT patients. Results There were no statistical differences in gender, age,BMI,Hb,TC,FPG,TG,ALT,UA and Cr between HT group and control group (P>0.05). NEUT,LYM,and NLR levels:HT group>control group, statistically significant difference (P<0.05). TSH,TgAb,TPOAb level:HT group>control group,FT3,FT4 level:HT group<control group, statistically significant difference (all P<0.05). NEUT,LYM,NLR,TSH,TgAb and TPOAb were manifested as group C>group B>group A while FT3 and FT4 showed group C<group B<group A,statistically significant difference (all P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that NLR levels were positively correlated with TSH,TgAb and TPOAb and negatively associated with FT3 and FT4 levels (P<0.05). Conclusion NLR is higher in patients with HT,and with the exacerbation of hypothyroidism,NLR increases accordingly. NLR in HT patients is positively correlated with the levels of TSH,TgAb and TPOAb,and is negatively correlated with the levels of FT3 and FT4. Clinical monitoring of NLR in peripheral blood of HT patients is helpful for disease diagnosis, early prevention and treatment.
