ROC Curve to Evaluate the Predictive Value of Peripheral Blood Inflam-matory Factors in Children with Respiratory Tract Infection
Objective To investigate the role of serum procalcitonin(PCT),amyloid A(SAA)and interleukin-6(IL-6)detection respiratory tract infection in children caused by different pathogens. Methods One hundred and sixty chil-dren with respiratory tract infection who were admitted to the Department of Pediatrics of Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chi-nese Medicine from January 2023 to May 2023 were selected for the study.According to the type of infection, the patients were divided into a bacterial infection group and a viral infection group, with eighty cases in each group, and 50 healthy sub-jects were selected as the control group. The levels of PCT,SAA,and IL-6 in peripheral blood of the three groups were detec-ted and compared.Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)curve was used to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of the above in-dexes on respiratory tract infection in children. Results Compared with the control group,PCT,SAA and IL-6 levels in the bacterial and viral groups were higher than those in the control group, and the bacterial group was higher than the viral group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The positive rates of PCT,SAA and IL-6 in the bacterial and viral groups were higher than those in the control group, and the bacterial group showed higher rates than the viral group, with sta-tistical significance(P<0.05).ROC curve analysis revealed compared with virus-infected children, children with bacterial infection had higher areas under the diagnostic curves for PCT,SAA,and IL-6,as well as higher sensitivity and specificity. Conclusion The detection of PCT,SAA and IL-6 has significant value in diagnosing children with upper respiratory tract in-fection caused by different pathogens.
