Investigation on the Relationship between Sleep Habits and Physical Devel-opment of School-Aged Children in Hai'an City
Objective To explore the relationship between sleep habits and physical development of school-age chil-dren.Methods This study focuses on 422 school-age children who underwent routine questionnaire surveys in department of pediatrics,Hai'an people's hospital from January 2021 to December 2022,and the sleeping habits and physical development of all enrolled patients were investigated.Looking at differences in height,weight,and malnutrition,normal weight,overweight,and obesity between the good sleep and poor sleep groups,The differences in sleep habits,sleep duration,sleep latency,night wake,parasomnia,sleep anxiety,sleep disordered breathing,daytime sleepiness,and total score were analyzed in pa-tients with malnutrition,normal weight,overweight,and obesity.To explore the correlation between patients'height,weight and scores of sleep habits.Results There were significant differences in height,weight,malnutrition,normal weight,over-weight and obesity among patients with different sleep habits(P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences among patients with different developmental conditions in bedtime habits,sleep duration,sleep latency,night waking,anomalous sleep,sleep anxiety,sleep breathing disorder,daytime sleepiness and total score(P<0.05).Through correlation analysis,patients'height,weight and sleep habits scores were negatively correlated(P<0.05),and overweight,obesity and malnutri-tion were positively correlated with sleep habits scores(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a significant correlation between sleep habits and physical development of school-age children.It is suggested that school-age children develop good sleep hab-its,which is conducive to physical development of the body.
