The Impact of Low-Carbohydrate Diet on Endocrine and Pregnancy Out-comes in Obesity Patients with PCOS
Objective To investigate the effects of low-carbohydrate diet on metabolic indexes, endocrine indexes and pregnancy outcomes in obese patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A total of 218 obese PCOS pa-tients admitted from February 2021 to June 2023 were divided into experimental group(n=109)and control group(n=109)by random number table method. The experimental group was given a low-carbohydrate diet and the control group was given a conventional diet for 8 weeks. The basic indexes, metabolic and endocrine indexes of the two groups were compared before and after the intervention of low-carbohydrate diet, and the pregnancy outcomes of the two groups were followed up.Results Be-fore low-carbohydrate diet intervention, there were no significant differences in age, body mass index(BMI),body fat per-centage,waist-to-hip ratio, triglyceride(TG),fasting insulin(FINS),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine amin-otransferase(ALT)and uric acid(UA)between 2 groups(P>0.05).After low-carbohydrate diet intervention,BMI,body fat percentage,waist-to-hip ratio,TG,FINS,AST,ALT and UA in test group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05).The total pregnancy rate in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Low carbohydrate diet intervention for obese PCOS patients can effectively reduce body mass relat-ed indexes, improve metabolic and endocrine indexes, and increase pregnancy rate.
