In this paper, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)and ion chromatography(IC)were used to detect the magnesium content in cigarette paper, and the two methods were analyzed and compared. The results show that both methods can accurately measure the magnesium content in cigarette paper, but the pre-treatment of IC is simpler and safer, and the stability, accuracy and precision of the results are higher, which is more advantageous in the detection.
