With the rapid development of AI,its application in the archival field is becoming more and more extensive.The international archival community has performed extensive and in-depth explorations on AI.This paper aims to sort out and analyze the research progress of AI applications in the international archival field,with a view to provide useful reference for the research and practice of AI applications in Chinese archival field.Focusing on key literature and projects,this study analyzes progress in the following fields:appraisal,indexing,classification,use,archival profession,management of records generated by AI,and explainable AI.The paper concludes by discussing the implications of this research for AI research in Chinese archival field:strengthening the systematicness and depth of AI research in the archival field,exploring the value and relevance of archival principles and methods in AI era,valuing pioneering experimental research,and responding to the fundamental and universal requirements of AI applications.
