Phthalates (PAEs)are used in large quantities as plasticizers in industrial production and consumer products, with emissions during production and use posing significant health risks through air pollution. This paper focuses on the sampling and analytical methods for detecting PAEs in the air, assessing in both indoor and outdoor pollution levels,as well as source analysis and population exposure risk assessment. It compares advantages, disadvantages, and applicability of active and passive sampling methods, while also analyzing the characteristics, and applications of monitoring and analytical methods such as gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography.Furthermore, the paper identifies gaps in current sampling methods, indoor and outdoor pollution level studies.By systematically discussing the current research state of PAEs air pollution research, this review aims to provide valuable theoretical and data-driven support for advancing research and developing strategies for PAEs pollution control.
