Study on the Performance of Ni-Cu Bimetallic Catalyst for Catalytic Hydrogenation of Castor Oil
A series of supported nickel-copper bimetallic catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation and applied to the hydrogenation of castor oil.The effects of different metal molar ratios, catalyst preparation conditions, reaction temperature and reaction pressure on the hydrogenation of castor oil were investigated. The results showed that the catalyst had the best activity and selectivity under the conditions of SD-II.ben-tonite as the carrier, metal nitrate as the reactant, and the molar ratio of nickel-copper was 2.5:1.At the same time, under the condition of H2 pressure of 2 MPa and reaction temperature of 160℃,the iodine value of hydrogenated castor oil of the product could reach 3.5 g/100 g and the hydroxyl value of 158.9 mg/g after 1 h of reaction, which met the requirements of the national standard index parameters. After 5 cycles,no sig-nificant inactivation was found. The experimental results show that this low-cost and stable bimetallic cata-lyst can be used for the industrial production of hydrogenated castor oil and the development of continuous process.
