Objective:To study a method for the efficient synthesis of N-methyl-N-aryl acrylamide. Methods:The nucleophilic addition reaction of 2-methylacrylyl chloride with aromatic amines containing various substituents produced the corresponding acrylamide, and the substitution reaction of acrylamide with iodomethane in the presence of sodium hydride produced N-methyl-N-aryl acrylamide. Results:A series of N-methyl-N-aryl acrylamides with various substituents were synthesized in medium to good yields.Conclu-sion:The method has simple operation, high yield, and a wide range of substrate applications.
