As a cognitive phenomenon,metaphor plays a pivotal role in political discourse.This study examines the English translation of metaphors in the Chinese and English version of XI Jinping:The Governance of China,Volume Ⅱ,using the conceptual integration theory.The findings suggest that metaphorical translation is a dynamic process of conceptual integration;an intricate interplay exists among CIT translation network types,counterpart projection methods and translation strategies.Multiple factors such as language and cultural psychology lead to adoption of different translation strategies,reflecting varying cognitive processes.
