An Analysis of Zhao Luorui's Poetry Translation Characteristics from the Perspective of Reflexive Sociology:Taking the Chinese Translation of"Children of Adam"from Leaves of Grass as an Example
Zhao Luorui is the first female translator of Whitman's Leaves of Grass,and her translation has received much acclaim.This paper examines the poem sequence"Children of Adam"in Leaves of Grass,focusing on three aspects:word choice,semantic expression,and sentence structure.By applying the concepts of habitus,capital,and field in Pierre Bourdieu's reflexive sociology,the paper analyzes Zhao Luorui's translation approach and the factors that shaped it.It argues that Zhao tends to employ a literal translation method,which can be attributed to the habitus she constructed and internalized throughout her life,her adherence to the principle of faithfulness,and the influence of various forms of capital accumulated in different fields by both Zhao and Whitman.
