By means of the Chinese version of the Jefferson Scale of Empathy,a questionnaire survey a-bout the empathy ability is conducted among clinical medicine students of a 5+3-year integrated program at a medical university in Hebei Province.The results reveal that the difference in students'gender,learning stage,grade,student leadership experience,and career choice causes the difference in the empathy ability.Based on this finding,such suggestions are made as emphasizing the integration of course learning and clini-cal practice,strengthening the construction of the medical humanity education system,reasonably designing the curriculum,and providing students with positive support.
