How to Solve the"Tram Problem"for Autonomous Vehicle
With the advent of the era of artificial intelligence, the development of autonomous driving technology has intensified the conflict between technological progress and ethical norms.Faced with the"tram problem"in the field of autonomous driving, the first question to be answered is whether necessary defense can be carried out in the event of a life conflict. When analyzing the classical theory of the justification of necessary defense,it's found that neither utilitarianism nor social joint responsibilities can escape the fate of being criticized by the academic circle. In order to change the rigidity of academia,a revised utilitarianism theory is proposed by combining the advantages of the two theories, which not only acknowledges the noble status of the legal interest of life in general situations, but also allows the measurement of the value of life in certain exceptional moments.Under the premise of meeting strict restrictions, the legitimacy and rationality of incorporating a benefit measurement program into autonomous driving programs are recognized.
