Study on the optimal number of remained leaves for a new flue-cured tobacco variety Zhongchuan 208 in southern Anhui
In order to explore the appropriate number of retained leaves of Zhongchuan 208 plant in the tobacco region of southern Anhui,in this study,we investigated the field growth appearance, economic characters, appearance and inner quality of flue-cured tobacco leaves of Zhongchuan 208 treated with different number of remained leaves. The results showed that with the number of remained leaves increased, the top leaves decreased, the contents of nicotine, total sugar and starch in central tobacco leaves tended to decrease, while the ratio of nitrogen to nicotine tended to increase;and the contents of nicotine, total nitrogen, potassium and chlorine in the upper tobacco leaves decreased, while the contents of total sugar, reducing sugar and starch increased. When the number of remained leaves of Zhongchuan 208 was 16-18,the comprehensive economic character was higher, the appearance and sensory quality of the flue-cured tobacco was better. In general, the suitable number of remained leaves of Zhongchuan 208 plant in the southern Anhui tobacco area was 16-18.
