The theory of Oriental society is one of Marx's important theories in his later years.It is Marx's theoretical exploration of the particularity and future trend of the historical development of backward Eastern countries based on Marx's summary of the universal laws of social historical development.It contains impor-tant propositions on how to achieve modernization in backward Eastern countries,which has aroused wide-spread attention and thinking.The victory of the October Revolution led by Lenin in Russia and the establish-ment of a Soviet socialist state marked the first practical application of the theory of Oriental society.After the Opium War,many enlightened individuals began the arduous exploration of China's path to modernization.The founding of the People's Republic of China opened a new journey for China's modernization construc-tion.Through the periods of socialist revolution and construction,reform and opening up,socialist moderniza-tion construction,and into the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics,Chinese-style modernization has continued to evolve and develop.Chinese-style modernization,led by the Communist Party of China,not only solves the difficulties of Western modernization and discards the Soviet-style modernization,but also draws nourishment from the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics,advocating"the common values of all humanity".It is a new type of modernization different from previous ones,and it represents the innovative development of Marx's theory of Oriental society in China.
