Ideologies of Consumption:the Changing of the Contemporary Bourgeoisie's Everyday Life——A Study of Lefebvre's Everyday Life in the Modern World
Lefebvre realized that there are some new situations in today's capitalist society, and that capitalism is not dying as that predicted by Marx and Lenin, but is"dying but not dead".The most important of these changes is that the"planned conception"that Marx had foreseen for socialism and communism, through the conscious recognition of the laws of production, has now been effectively in-tegrated by capitalism into its own mode of production.Today's capitalism can be regarded as a bureau-cratic society in which consumption is controlled, and the desire itself, which is the motive for con-sumption in the everyday life of capitalist society,is created by capital through soft advertisements to control people's unconscious and false needs, and thus to reproduce the"Other's desires"that are con-sumed by the blind followers.A new ideology has been created in this so-called"consumer society",that is the unique ideology of consumption in the modern bourgeois world.
