The Construction of China's Ethnology Based on Comparative Civilization Studies
The discipline construction of China's Ethnology aims to discover universal knowledge values based on its own context. It seeks to propose its own understanding of the world beyond Western ethnology, thereby liberating China from the knowledge lineage of modern Western ethnology and na-tion studies.Starting with comparative civilization studies,it aims to reevaluate the implications of the Chinese"ethnic"concept.Chinese civilization is based on an institution of temporal and spatial cycles, distinct from the Indo-European civilization based on law and the Semitic-Arab civilization based on faith.Consequently, the concept of the Minzu differs from the Western notion of a nation based on the modernity of the Germanic people. The intellectual mission for the China's Ethnology lies in preventing an excessive shift towards relativism, exploring modernization solutions for ethnic minorities during the modern transformation of temporal and spatial institutions, and reconstructing China's totality based on the moral cause of the country in the post-revolution era.
