Digital Technology and Domestic Demand Oriented Global Value Chain:Theoretical Mechanism and Empirical Evidence
Digital technology is now accelerating the reshaping of Global Value Chain(GVC),taking this opportunity to promote the shift of GVC towards domestic demand oriented,is the key basis for smooth dual circulation and stable economic development.Measuring penetration level of digital technology in industrial sectors by identifying the source of value-added,this paper studies its impact mechanism on domestic demand oriented GVC division of labor. We find that, firstly, digital technolo-gy can effectively deepen the domestic demand oriented GVC division of labor, and its mechanism is to stimulate domestic demand, strengthen advantages at core section, and reduce trade costs.Secondly, relatively speaking, the deepening effect of digital technology on domestic demand oriented GVC divi-sion of labor is greater in industries with high levels of international division of labor participation,tech-nology intensive industries, capital intensive industries, and developed countries and regions.Thirdly, compared with the external demand oriented GVC division of labor, digital technology has a greater deepening effect on the domestic demand oriented GVC division of labor. The above conclusions have important implications for China to optimize the structure of international division of labor and acceler-ate the construction of"dual circulation"new development pattern by virtue of digital technology.
