Historical Restoration to the Ancient Capital of Lin'an in the Southern Song Dynasty
The founding of Lin'an as the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty was a milestone for Hangzhou to leap into a famous historical and cultural city among China It is the turning point of the culture of Zhejiang Province from the periphery to the center;it is the demarcation line of the cultural center of Chi-na,which was eventually converged in Jiangnan from the north to the south;and it is also the source of the power of the Song Dynasty to continue to flourish and re-create the peak of the culture.However,due to the war and other reasons,the main building as the core of the Imperial City has disappeared,which makes Lin'an in the Southern Song Dynasty as one of the"Seven Ancient Capitals"has not been able to effectively pre-serve the spatial landscape as in the case of the former capitals of Beijing,Nanjing,Xi'an,Luoyang and so on,which is undoubtedly a major shortcoming in the history of civilization development in Zhejiang Prov-ince and also in China.In today's grand strategy of Yangtze River Delta integration,with the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai as the leading goose and the ancient capitals of Nanjing and Hangzhou as the two wings,new splendor will surely be written in the construction of the world's sixth largest city cluster.
