Thomas Nagel refuted three common arguments about the meaning of life, namely the"Million Year Argument","Mayflies Argument",and"End of Death Argument",and further pointed out that the absurdity of life actually reflects a deep level of self-awareness in humans, which arises from the conflict between our profound investment in life and our unavoidable doubts about it.Accord-ing to the framework of Marx's historical view,a historical interpretation of absurdity is proposed. The sense of absurdity is actually a cognitive state that gradually emerges with the process of modernization,a social historical phenomenon, and a form of alienation. It is closely related to the way people exist in society.Furthermore,it is pointed out that with the development and progress of history, when humani-ty is in the stage of"differentiation and unity",as a subjective alienation of absurdity, this social histor-ical phenomenon will eventually disappear with history.
