The Income Effect of Occupational Mobility and Labor Market Segmentation in the Digital Economy Era
Based on the 2018 data from the China Labor Force Dynamics Survey, this study ex-plores the possibility and income effects of occupational mobility in different labor markets from the per-spective of labor market segmentation, and further analyzes its new changes in the digital economy era.Research has found that:(1)The possibility of occupational mobility among workers in the high-tech la-bor market is significantly higher than that in the low-tech labor market, and there are differences in the influencing factors of occupational mobility between the two labor markets;(2)Occupational mobility has an income effect, which only exists significantly in the low-tech labor market. The occupational mo-bility of low skilled workers can significantly promote income growth, indicating that occupational mo-bility may narrow the income gap caused by labor market segmentation;(3)The development of the digital economy has significantly affected the development of the labor market. The development of the digital economy can promote the possibility of occupational mobility for workers, especially increasing the possibility of occupational mobility in low-tech labor markets. The development of the digital econo-my has also promoted the income effect of occupational mobility in low-tech labor markets.
