Intrinsic Tensions,Way of Thinking and Production of Knowledge in Anthropology
As a modem social science, anthropology has had a series of intrinsic tensions since its inception, such as science vs.art, history vs.no-history,and concrete direct experience vs.cosmic grand issues. These tensions,in a certain sense, shape the way of thinking in anthropology, and it is in the process of traveling between experience and theory, between the whole and the local, the internal and the external, the knowable and the unknowable, that the production of knowledge in anthropology can take place. This also requires the anthropological researcher,on the one hand,to dare to seek knowledge,to get involved and capture it in the empirical world, and on the other hand,to have the courage to recognize the limitations of knowledge, and to continuously generate new knowledge in the journey of self-perplexity and adventure.
