Development Research on Underwater Prefabricated Vertical Drain(PVD)Installation Techniques and Equipment
The underwater prefabricated vertical drain(PVD)installation techniques are widely applied to seabed ground improvement in ocean reclamation,seawall construction,tidal flat reclamation and other offshore geotechnical engineering.In the early 1990's,the first set of underwater PVD installation equipment was successfully developed in China,filling the technical gap in this field.With years of exploration,experiment and practical engineering experience,the installation techniques of underwater PVD are gradually sophisticated during four stages of development,which is combined of relatively advanced mechanical,hydraulic-pneumatic and electrical technologies,forming a unique and innovative specialized mechanism,increasing production capacity constantly and paving the way for the widespread application of PVD seabed ground improvement technology in offshore engineering.
