Application of Xianghu and Zhedong Canal for World Cultural Heritage
Xianghu Lake plays an important role in the shipping business along Zhedong Canal , which is the main channel connecting to the Xiao-shao Plain, linking up the north shore of Qiantang River .It also carves out its way to Wuyue as a kind of water traffic , and to the overseas as sea lanes .From the navigation function and historical position of Xianghu Lake, it is expected to be included in the waiting list of the Grand Canal Heritage .Measures should be taken to protect the ancient river course of Xianghu Lake , as well as the ancient water conservancy and shipping facilities .At the same time, the writing, editing and publishing of History of Xiaoshan Canal should be carried out , along with the relevant series on material and non-material cultural heritage in Xianghu Area .
