Research on Water Conservancy Construction and Agricultural Development in Taizhou in Song Dynasty
The seawall constructed by Taizhou coast and the water network system composed of small water con-servancy projects such as Yan,Dai,Fei and Tang promoted the agricultural production area to extend to the coastal zone and the more difficult mountain area to develop.The development of water conservancy in Taizhou is closely related to the population growth,the policy support of Song government and the attention of local offi-cials,which is the result of multiple factors.In the Song Dynasty,the agricultural cultivated land area in Taizhou was further expanded,and many excellent rice varieties suitable for local cultivation were cultivated,which not only improved the agricultural farming methods,but also promoted the adjustment of agricultural structure,and boosted the rise of commercial agriculture,thus promoting the social and economic development of Taizhou.
