On the Construction of Modern Chinese Literature by Scientific Thoughts
The fundamental view of Chinese scholars on Western science changed in modern times.In the late Qing Dynasty,scholars woke up under the gun of the great powers and began to explore the mystery of western power from"technology"to"Dao".Since the Westernization movement in the late Qing Dynasty,the great gifts sent by the enemy—Western science and technology—made the academic circle realize the drawbacks of the tradition of"Chongwen",and our academic circle stepped into a period of negating literature with science.Literature was greatly suppressed during this period.As the essence of scientific spirit,pure reason undoubtedly influenced the aesthetic position of modern Chinese literature theory and creation,and brought in the principle of"seeking truth".But at that time,the mechanistic theory of"scientism"treated the traditional literary heritage in a way that was not rational cognition,but carving the boat and seeking the sword.A special link has emerged between science and literature:science fiction.This combination of technical expertise and literary fantasy has had many achievements in translation and creation at the time.
