A Qualitative Study on the Frustration Experience of Physical Exercise and Its Coping among University Teachers
Using the qualitative method,17 college teachers who often participate in physical exercise took part in the interviews to explore the characteristics of frustration experience by physical exercise in college teachers and its coping strategies.Based on the data collected from the interviews,NVivo12.0 software was used for data processing and a-nalysis,and the results showed that the characteristics of college teachers'frustration experience of physical exercise were mainly manifested in cognitive task commitments of physical fitness and sport skills,as well as the frustration of sports injury. At the same time,in terms of emotion, the frustrations of social-goal commitments are characterized by negative feelings of helplessness, embarrassment, and abandonment. In the face of the frustrating experience of physical exercise, college teachers usually cognitively reconstruct the strengths and weaknesses of their physical abili-ties and skills through emotional regulation to strengthen the sense of gain, and behavioral regulation for the frustra-tion of social goal commitment. These coping strategies have a good effect on reducing the experience of frustration during physical exercise, which is discussed in this article.Corresponding suggestions were put forward for the physi-cal exercise among university teachers.
