The Mediating Role of Core Self-Esteem and Negative Psychology Between Teacher Rude Behaviour and Adolescent Athletes'Sleep Status
Objective This study aimed to examine the relationship between rough teacher behaviouir and adolescent ath-letes'sleep quality,as well as the mediating role of core self-evaluations and negative affect.Methods:258 adoles-cent athletes completed measures of rough teacher behaviour,sleep quality,core self-evaluations,and negative af-fect.Conclusions:①Female rough teacher behaviour negatively predicted adolescent athletes'sleep quality,while male rough teacher behaviour did not.②Core self-evaluations and negative affect played a serial mediating role be-tween female rough teacher behaviour and sleep quality and a fully mediating role between male rough teacher behav-iour and sleep quality.③Significant gender differences emerged:Male athletes were mainly affected by female rough teacher behaviour,while female athletes were affected by both female and male rough teacher behaviour(indirect effect).Male rough teacher behaviour did not directly or indirectly predict male athletes'sleep quality.
