Effects of brief cognitive behavioral therapy on medication adherence in adolescent patients with depressive disorder
Objective To study the effects of brief cognitive behavioral therapy(BCBT)on medication adherence in adolescent patients with depressive disorder. Methods Forty-three adolescent patients with depressive disorder admitted to the Second People's Hospital of Huizhou from December 2018 to October 2022 were selected as the research subjects. All cases accepted psychological intervention on the basis of antidepressant drug treatment, including 21 cases accepting BCBT(BCBT group)and 22 cases accepting psychological education(control group). The Morisky medication adherence scale-8(MMAS-8)scores,the coefficient of medication adherence, and Hamilton depression rating scale-24(HAMD-24)scores between the two groups of patients before and after psychological intervention were compared. Results The diffe-rence in MMAS-8 scores of patients in the BCBT group before and after psychological intervention and the coefficient of medication adherence were statistically significantly higher than those in the control group(both P<0.05).HAMD-24 scores of patients in two groups both decreased significantly after psychological intervention(both P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups no matter before and after the intervention(all P>0.05).Conclusion BCBT can effectively improve medication adherence and reduce depressive symptoms of adolescent patients with depressive disorder.
