Predictive value of serum miR-199 and miR-21 in the recurrence of miscarriage of patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion
Objective To explore the predictive value of microRNA-199(miR-199)and miR-21 in the recurrence of recurrent spontaneous abortion(RSA).Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 95 RSA patients admitted to the Gynecology Department of the Third People's Hospital of Huzhou from July 2021 to May 2023.They were divided into an abortion group and a non-abortion group based on whether they had another miscarriages.Their clinical data were collected, and their serum miR-199 and miR-21 levels were detected by the elbow venous blood.Follow-up observation on the recurrence rate of miscarriage was performed at 28 weeks of pregnancy. The clinical data and serum levels of miR-199 and miR-21 between the abortion group and the non-abortion group were compared, and the factors influencing recurrence of miscarriage were analyzed to detect the predictive efficacy of serum miR-199 and miR-21 on the recurrence of miscarriage of RSA patients. Results Ninty-five RSA patients were all successfully followed up,among which 24 cases had recurrent miscarriages at 28 weeks of pregnancy, with an incidence rate of 25.26%(24/95),while no recurrent miscarriages were observed in another 71 cases. The proportions of patients aged ≥35 years and those with more than four spontaneous abortions in the abortion group were both higher when compared with the non-abortion group(both P<0.05).For patients in the abortion group, the progesterone levels and ultrasound multimodal scores were lower, while their serum levels of miR-199 and miR-21 were higher(all P<0.05).No less than 4 times of spontaneous abortions(OR=2.984)and elevated serum miR-199(OR=4.141)and miR-21(OR=4.926)were independent risk factors for recurrent miscarriage in RSA patients(all P<0.05),while ultrasound multimodal score(OR=0.206)was a protective factor(P<0.05).The AUCs of serum miR-199 and miR-21 in predicting the recurrence of miscarriage of RSA patients were 0.779 and 0.804,respectively,and the optimal cutoff values were 3.57 and 2.95,respectively;The AUC of the two was 0.907,significantly higher than each of them. Conclusion The serum miR-199 and miR-21 of RSA patients are highly expressed and closely related to the recurrence of miscarriage. The combination of the two shows better predictive value in the recurrence of miscarriage, which can guide further decision-making and treatment.
