[Purpose/Significance]To address the lack of classification studies in the research of domestic think tank journals,this paper attempts to explore the characteristics of the operation modes of think tank journals from both domestic and international perspectives,and aims to provide valuable insights for the development of Chinese think tank journals.[Method/Process]This paper proposes a new analytical framework and conducts a comparative case analysis of five typical Chinese think tank journals specializing in international issues,both from China and abroad.The analysis focuses on the subdivision and comparison of their role positioning and operation modes.[Result/Conclusion]The purpose and mission of think tanks determine the role positioning and operation mode of think tank journals.The accurate role positioning and effective operation of think tank journals help think tanks achieve their purpose and mission.
